Poppies in Purley
Help create part of a wonderful display of poppies (all colours) in Purley on Thames this year with the theme of "Together We Remember“.
We are looking for displays that we can hang on the fence by Purley Rise/ Traffic Lights/Cross Road that commemorate Remembrance Day.
The intention is to create a respectful commemorative display (created by a collection of local schools and community groups and residents) to honour and remember those who lost their lives in the wars. We would like the display to remain in place for approximately two weeks around Remembrance Day.
All decorations and materials need to be:
sustainable and environmentally considerate;
securely attached and suitable for November weather conditions;
non-obstructive and designed to avoid causing any hazard or distraction to road users and pedestrians.
No more than 80cm height (to fit on the railings), no more than 1m wide and displays can only protrude a max 10 cm
Groups wanting to take part should contact info@purleysustainability.co.uk so we can plan the space effectively.
We will be in touch regarding arrangements to for hanging the display, but we would hope that displays are ready by 30th October.

Screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film
The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.
This new film from the National Emergency Briefing sets out the risks facing the nation - and the credible, positive responses available.
